I've always strived to balance technical precision with creative storytelling. Film is where those strengths merged into a single craft.

I was an aircraft inspector who played music. An industrial technician who also wanted to paint. For a long time, I thought I had to choose one and let the other go quiet; technician or artist?

Then, one night after work I was watching a movie and for the first time I really saw the hand of an artist.  At 3am I watched the movie again with the director's commentary turned on. I heard Director James Mangold break down how a scene was built, and it clicked. Filmmaking was the one place where both halves weren’t a compromise, they were the qualification. I bought a camera, enrolled in film school and I’ve been doing this for twenty years.

HOW I WORK

I've worked professionally in every stage of the process from Ideation, producing and filming through post and delivery. Knowing every seat isn’t a claim about versatility. It’s the practical reason I can scope a job honestly, build a workflow that fits the real budget, and explain exactly why a shot isn’t cutting.  I have a passion for filming 'faces in spaces' and exploring what it means to be human through lensing, lighting and storytelling.

The technical side never went anywhere. I still repair my own gear, build my own rigs, and I’m usually the person who can tell you why the signal dropped. Twenty years in, that’s what clients rely on most — not that I own a camera, but that I can keep the day moving when something breaks.

Need someone to build a 30 node render farm to render out shows for the largest screen in the world, I did that.

Need someone to help figure out how to broadcast pixel perfect, live multi-cam, stereoscopic sports... then make the 3D camera rig wireless... then put the 3D rig on a steadicam, I did that.

Need someone to build a new video production department including budgeting, purchases, setting standards, practices and implementation, I did that.

Have an idea for a film but don't know where to start, I've done that too.

Bring me your idea, give me a problem to solve or just sit back and see what I can do for you.

TEACHING

Two people changed the direction of my life by investing in me. A private music instructor, when I was eighteen and struggling. And an Air Force supervisor who took me under his wing. From both I learned how to learn and all bounds were removed. I've wanted to do that for others ever since.

So I try to teach and mentor wherever I land. I founded and ran a student film club. I volunteered to teach music at a high school. And at home I teach my two sons to build — go-karts, small engines, pneumatics, electronics; how to be creative with art, game design and cooking.

CURRENT

I live outside Nashville with my wife and our two boys. What I enjoy most is work that serves a larger purpose, helping a brand communicate clearly, supporting an institution’s story or teaching people how to make things themselves. In my personal time I paint, build electronics, make puppets and work on my pet project, a children's show called Tinkertown
